'Exquisite, realistic bronze toucan sculpture on a walnut base, created by a Ward Foundation World Champion.
Cast from a ceramic sculpture I created some years ago. I was working on a wood sculpture, and I usually start with some ceramic clay 'sketches' first. I think the subject was probably a mountain toucan from the Metro Toronto Zoo. I was pleased with the overall form. While the head and bill are very detailed and realistic, the overall shape is that of a somewhat abstract ellipse. which projects some movement.

The ceramic sculpture was chosen for the Leigh Yawkey Woodson 'Birds in Art ' exhibition, and later the tour.
This is a very fine, museum quality bronze, cast by a superb foundry in Toronto. Great patina and bronze quality. Mounted on a walnut base.
Approximately 17 inches in height.
